I love Passion Audio Player. I play my mp3s on PAP. I also listen to a few 'net radio stations on PAP.
However, some URLs [come in] loud and clear; but others just won't connect. If PAP was developed for folks who truly have a passion for music and wanted a player that could handle most audio files [format], then, hooray to Passion Audio Player.
But what about 'net radio?
Gosh, darn! There are "zillions" of Internet radio stations with so many audio programs/format; and to use PAP as my default player would be ideal. But it plays some http and can't play others. It plays some mms but can't play others. Why? And then some mainstream [local] commercial radio stations use a third party source to stream their programs. Therefore, the URL --via the third party server-- is a redirect feed; and PAP can't handle it. Why?
Come on PAP. Be the best for localized audio files on the PC; and also for Internet radio --whatever the type and/or "complexity" of the streaming protocol. Keep up the good work.

Hello Please send me the URLs that don't work, so that i can test them. The whole URL streaming support is implemented via the bass.dll. If you send me the links, i will post them to the author of BASS and he will improve the support . About the links that are not played, try to play them again . Some links need 2 or 3 times to be tried to played because of their server response. About the mainstream [local] commercial radio stations that use a third party source to stream their programs, they probably can work with this version of Passion Audio Player. The only thing you have to do it to give Passion Audio Player the proper local URL. For example the LAST.FM player works with Passion Audio Player if you add to the playlist this URL: http://localhost:32214 The procedure for LAST.FM is the following: 1. Open LAST.FM player 2. Run Passion Audio Player. 3. Play the URL http://localhost:32214 in Passion Audio Player 4. Play the song you want from the Last.FM player and the sound will come out from Passion Audio Player Closing, Give me exactly the links that have problems and the Mainstream radio stations you have problem, and i will give you detailed information and answers why these can or can't work with Passion Audio Player

I'll test those URLs again; and a few other as well. I'll do what you suggested and then get back to you ASAP.
******
By the way, I'm having a problem making changes [tags] in the playlist. No problems with MP3s; but 'net radio is driving me crazy. Some URL are indeed long and "wacky" and are an eyesore in the playlist. Also, some 'net stations stream embedded info that I find crude and tacky.
Just imagine: "The best smooth JaZZ radiO on the NET!!!! 24/7 and all THebest musiC for your listning plesser".
Bad English; bad grammar; bad punctuation. Yikes!
If I could change that without messing with the actual file (URL). Maybe I'll find a 60s/70s station that is exclusive Motown. Personally, I wouldn't mind having my own description in the playlist. Motown Sounds? Or something creative but personal. But I can't in the PAP playlist as per 'net radio.
Nevertheless, keep up the good work.

The problem with that is that Passion Audio Player get the tags from the internet station, as it gets them from the mp3 files. So it doen't actually make any sense to me to have these tags edited. Besides, these tags change whenever the internet station changes the selected song and that's the reason i don't want these tags to be editable, because they are updated on every new song or whenever the server decides that. About the URL and the local streaming stuff i'll be waiting Thanks for posting

My response: It depends. If the playlist is [connected or integrated] to a media library with column options such as Artist, Title, Album, Genre, Comments, etc., then filename would be exclusive to whatever the station or server is streaming. This metadata or embedded info won't affect my personal choice for a better station ID in the playlist.
So, in the playlist I'll see [my own tag] Motown Sounds, but in actuality the filename (URL) could be http://pliu/sou235/KPAR/gg.asx --I made that up-- and the actual station could be MIX99.9 --also made up-- but once I see Motown Sounds, then I know exactly what I'll be hearing when I tune in. Even if the station/server as per embedded info is streaming "Diana Ross & The Supremes - Stop, In The Name Of Love".
Real Player, Windows Media, iTunes, etc., give that option as per their playlist [feeding off] their library and it's functionality and versatility. But Real Player, WM Player, iTunes and etc., are really BLOATED and a bit [intrusive] in subtle and not so subtle ways. Hence, I desperately want PAP to be The Answer and not a let down.
************* Still [testing] those URLs on PAP and a few other players to make sure that the file properties are correct and not changed. Indeed you will get those questionable URLs that PAP [can't play].

I know what you mean and i know how to do it The only thing that makes me thinking of it, is that i will have to add one more field to the structure of each song structure, and this field will be useless to all other file types. However i will think about it I'm sad to say that Passion Audio Player will let you down a bit, because a new update won't be released very soon. I try to make these updates to have massive improvents, so........ p.s. I will be waiting for the URLS, and thanks for the time you spend to do it

[glow=yellow,2,350]I'm sad to say that Passion Audio Player will let you down a bit, because a new update won't be released very soon.[/glow] ******** That's okay; and until you give the next release...well...life goes on. But I think that you already have the [template] as per File Info that defaulted to Tag Editor. In Tag Editor ID3v1 and ID3v2 tagging options are available. But whenever enabled for internet radio the data or changes won't keep. That might be a bug. Right? But you'll know what to do, etc., etc. Here are some of the URLs that are not playing on PAP: www.live-radio.net/redirfeed.php3?Id=8412748This is KPOJ 620 AM, Portland. (Also got an Error code: 5) media.kcrw.com/live/kcrwlive.asxThis is KCRW 89.9 FM, Santa Monica. (Also got an Error code: 5) A few others are [now] working; after trying, retry, retry, retry, retry, and retry. WHOOPEE!!!N4

Ok i tried these links and here are the results This link could never work on Passion Audio Player, because this link works with the macromedia shockwave plugin of the browser This link has 3 sublinks inside it and the two links work on Passion Audio Player. Of course in order to work i retried two or three times to make it work:) I think i have to check this issue with not connecting from the 1st time.

Thanks a lot for your quick and timely response.
I wish all goes well for PAP, even for the future development and all bug fixes.
